International Trademark
Two of the most popular international trademark systems are madrid system and community trade mark system.
- Madrid Systems
- The Madrid system is an international system for trademark registration and is administered by the International Bureau of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The system allows a trade mark owner in the member countries (see list) of the Madrid Agreement or Protocol to extend the protection of trademark using a single application.
- Community Trade Mark
- The Community Trade Mark (CTM) system is administered by the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs), a.k.a. OHIM.
The system consists of one single registration procedure, which grants the trademark owner exclusive rights in its member states in its member states (see list) of the European Union.
